Olesia and Kira's Story
Our Whole Life Packed Up
The short story is we packed our whole lives into a backpack and now we’re here.
Olesia came to the United States with nothing but a small bag and her six-year-old daughter, Kira, in tow. With the help of Bethany Christian Services, the Global Refuge network, and their kind case worker Svitlana, Olesia and Kira are rebuilding a life in Philadephia—and Kira will celebrate her seventh birthday in safety. Though Kira doesn’t speak much English, she’s happy to communicate with her new friends and teachers with plenty of hugs.
