HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF
Hurricane Katrina hit the shores of the U.S. gulf area on August 29, 2005 going on record as one of the top five deadliest hurricanes in the history of the U.S. The phone began to ring for all of us in Colorado as people desired to help. Within a few days Frontier Airlines donated roundtrip tickets from Denver to Houston to the GRI team. The team spent a week in Louisiana providing medical care in rural areas that had been hit by the disaster and also in a make-shift clinic alongside the American Red Cross. The team treated patients with wounds, diabetes and many infections due to injuries. At the end of the trip the team even had the opportunity to prepare a last minute meal for a hundred U.S. Marines who found themselves without food.
