Global Day of Prayer for Burma is March 14, 2010

Sunday March 14, 2010 is the Global Day of Prayer for Burma. Join us in uniting with millions of people around the world in asking God to bring peace, justice and reconciliation to our brothers and sisters under oppression in Burma. This is the 14th anniversary of this important day. The theme of the day is Zechariah 4:6, “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty.” Burma needs a miracle!

Burma, also known as Myanmar, has been in civil war for over 50 years. This war has left Burma as one of the poorest countries in the world. Human rights violations occur on a daily basis with forced displacement, forced labor, rape and murder being on the top of the list. The military regime continues to attempt to wipe out many of the over 100 ethnic minorities inside the country. Over 600,000 people are internally displaced with over a million who have fled to other countries.

GRI has worked along the Thailand/Burma border since 2001 with the purpose of bringing about physical, mental and spiritual healing. To find out more information on Burma and GRI’s work there… click here.
