Interested in helping people and learning about other cultures? Our Refugee Night gives people the opportunity to share about their life as a refugee. A different country is featured every time, but there is always food to sample and a time for discussion. Bring a friend to this unique (and free!) event.

Low Creek Tattoo fundraiser

We are partnering with Low Creek Tattoo in Arvada for a one day fundraising event. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Global Refuge to support our work with pygmies in Eastern DR Congo. 

The fundraiser will take place from Noon-8pm on Saturday, September 17th. The artists at Low Creek Tattoo will design flash tattoos specifically for this event. Each tattoo will only cost $50! In order to accommodate as many people as possible, guests will be asked to choose from the 80-100 specially designed flash tattoos. No custom work that day.

Refugee Night: Somalia

 

Garas Mohammad, is going to be sharing his story at Refugee Night. He's from Somalia. Garas loves animals, especially camels and sheep. He loves to visit the Denver Zoo. He has a passion for there to be Somali literature available to Somali children that is positive and inspiring.

Come hear his story. Garas is brilliant, articulate, and from a country with a long, rich history. Like many places these days, Somalia had a history of conflict and suffering, but also has people like Garas who have come through it with amazing stories to share. Come learn about Somalia, and come meet Garas Mohammed on July 19th, 7pm.

Cultural Mentoring & Exchange Training in Partnership with Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains

Mentoring and cultural exchange with a newly arrived refugee or refugee family and work with them on self-sufficiency skills (English, Financial Literacy, Employment Skills, Practical Life Skills, Cultural Orientating and friendship). 3-6 month commitment. 

Event is open to the public. 

To attend, fill out this form and be sure to select 7/16/2016 for the date you plan to attend orientation. Training will be held at Global Goods and Coffee ONLY on Saturday, July 16th. All other trainings will be held Wednesdays at the LFS Downing Office.

Indonesian Food Bazaar

We are partnering with Riverside Indonesian Fellowship for the 11th annual Indonesian food bazaar! This is our biggest annual fundraising event and our share of the proceeds will provide aid to our medical clinic in DR Congo.

Drivers are needed on Sunday, May 15th from 10am-1pm to help deliver food to the hungry masses.

Not available to drive? Stop by Riverside Fellowship (2401 Alcott St, Denver) during any of the following times to help with food prep:

  • Friday, May 13th from Noon-10pm
  • Saturday, May 14th from 10am-midnight
  • Sunday, May 15th from 7am-11am
  • Drivers are needed on Sunday, May 15th from 10am-1pm (Yes, we said it again because we really need you!)
